There stands our School by Mahim Bay,
Built on a wond'rous site,
By Scotsmen true in days gone by,
All honour is their right.
So proud are we of this great School,
We sing with right good will
Its praise and follow every rule
To make it greater still.
Then we would up and cheer and laud
Our teachers ev'ry one
They spare no pains - (nor yet the rod!)
To see our tasks well done.
Sing Bombay Scottish School, my lad,
Our School we thus address.
Sing Bombay Scottish School, my lass
Sing Bombay Scottish School.
The Music and Lyrics of the school song
were given by Mr. Andrew Ramsay,
a Scotsman and Superintendent
of the
Boarding School
at Bombay Scottish. |

Courage Brother! Do not stumble
Though thy path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble;
Trust in God, and do the right.
Let the road be rough and dreary,
And its end far out of sight,
Foot it bravely; strong or weary,
Trust in God, and do the right.
Perish policy and cunning,
Perish all that fears the light:
Whether losing, whether winning,
Trust in God, and do the right.
Some will hate thee, some will love thee,
Some will flatter, some will slight,
Cease from man, and look above thee:
Trust in God, and do the right.
Simple rule, and safest guiding,
Inward peace, and inward might,
Star upon our path abiding,
Trust in God, and do the right.
Courage brother! Do not stumble,
Though thy path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble;
Trust in God, and do the right.
The School Hymn first appeared as a poem in
The Edinburgh Christian Magazine.
Music and Lyrics by Mr.Norman Macleod (1857). |
